About

I’m here to intermingle my knowledge of English literature with my passions for comic books and its community. And as such, let me quote Shakespeare’s iconic character Hamlet:

Rightly to be great
Is not to stir without great argument,
But greatly to find quarrel in a straw
When honour’s at the stake.  (4.4)

As readers, writers, cosplayers, makers, fans and, overall, just plain old passionate people, these are words to live by. To paraphrase the above quote, what moves us to act is not occasions to call upon us, but rather that we find reasons within ourselves to pursue our passions and make an occasion great for ourselves. In this blog, you’ll read about my experiences at conventions, perspective on geek related topics and, of course, articles to help everyone become more considerate readers and audience members for comics and related films. There may be occasional articles addressing future events or cosplay builds.

To fulfill the about me aspect, I am a bay area high school teacher  and former athletic coach with about a decade of experience under my belt, and a few accolades I am somewhat proud of. I have presented at a few local conventions (KrakenCon, FanimeCon, and Silicon Valley Comic Con) and San Diego Comic Con, discussing manga as literature, teaching comics in the classroom, and cosplay. If pictures are more your thing, swing on over to the RPG Adventurers Instagram account, where Jnet and I post a lot of our cosplay work.

Thanks for taking the time to read. It is always nice to be noticed.
